Just write

Due to a Masters degree and moving house, among some other things, we needed to take a little break from pretty much anything Dalou related (except our taxes, shoutout to HMRC 😑), and boy is it difficult getting back into it.

Instagram and pretty much anywhere I look the internet seems to know I’m struggling to get back into the rhythm and is relentlessly showing me books, podcasts, techniques, tablets, tinctures and a whole smorgasbord of medical solutions to try and get me refocused that’ll be a ‘piece of cake’. Despite their persistence and assurance that their thing will be the quickest and easiest way to boost my productivity and get me reaching my goals in 30 days (or some other randomly plucked period of time), I’ve opted instead to just start writing. Something, anything. In fact, this is that writing, hello to the 20 people our Instagram now reaches, it’s great to have you here.

We love cooking and we love eating but what we found was that there are lots of other bits around those two things that we love too. One for me is writing. I simultaneously find it one of the hardest and easiest things to get into the flow of. But truly, I love it.

There are plenty of things holding me back though, not least being that sometimes I don’t even know what the bloody hell to write about. Another quite small but increasingly irritating villain in this little cauldron of ‘things that make it hard to write’ is the sticky ‘g’ on my keypad which bothers me to no end. I could sort it out but I know I won’t, and that’s ok. I will stay consistently frustrated with it on this new attempt to write something every day week.

Anywho, I guess this is the first success because look! I’ve written something. It will be more food based soon, I promise. But it will also be about other things. My garden, walks, the weather and nature, probably quite a number of random thoughts that pop into my head and maybe even a good idea or two. At the very least though, rest assured, there will be food.
